State-Level Serious Illness Policy Innovation: Designing and Scaling Best-Practices During a Pandemic
Wednesday, October 28th
About the Session
State policymakers are increasingly interested in how to better serve those with serious illness and their families. While momentum around state-level action for this population was gaining steam before the COVID-19 pandemic, the public health emergency has accelerated work to design policies specifically focused on the sickest residents, especially those that increase access to and the quality of palliative care. In this session, we will provide an overview of current state serious illness policy innovations, and how the current crisis is informing the work now and into the future. We will be highlighting specific cutting-edge state approaches to learn how this work can be done well and be inclusive of all patient and family populations.
